Other things I write

Mostly things I wake up thinking about and type out on my Notes app on my phone.

Ennui

Day in day out

Day in day out

We move day by day

Cycles of the sun and moon

Defining our rhythm, our

Step by step

Ennui

Today, I feel ennui

I wake up, my eyes recognizing what's around me

Another day

It reminds me of yesterday

Of tomorrow

Of the week before yesterday

One month ago

Winter lights

Strings of light

Strung between buildings

Strong wires hold up the

Delicate bulbs

Of pink and blue and white

And cast an

Alluring

Gaudy

Warm

Glow, and everybody feels

Brighter

Within the shadows

People are looking in the shop windows

Imagining their lives

With a new sweater, a scented candle

A freshly baked pastry

Warm on their fingers

They walk on, they know it will not

Change anything

In the daytime the lights are off

The strong wires stark

Against the grey sky

Like plastic cups on the dance floor

The morning after

The romance is still there

But to be found in the memory

And imagination of

What had been

And what would be

If we were to be there
